A puddle under your indoor AC unit is easy to dismiss when the system is still blowing cold air. If the leak is minor and safely away from electrical parts, turn the thermostat from COOL to OFF. Place towels or a shallow container beneath the drip to limit damage. Check your filter and replace it if it is visibly dirty or overdue. If you see ice on the refrigerant line or indoor coil area, leave cooling off and give the system time to thaw rather than chipping at the ice.

You can also look at the exterior condensate drain outlet. A steady drip while the AC runs can be normal in humid weather. No water at the outlet does not automatically prove a clog, but it is useful information for the technician. Avoid adding harsh chemicals or drain cleaners to the line. They can damage components, create fumes, and may not remove the actual blockage.
